Arte, cultura y poder en la Nueva España

This volume includes different chapters of specialists and their approaches to the culture of the Viceroyalty of Nueva España. This is the reason of its title, Arte, cultura y poder en la Nueva España (Art, culture and power in Nueva España), indicates the interdisciplinary approach of the ensemble. The book, with innovative researches, is divided into three parts: Sociedad y el ejercicio del poder (Society and the exercise of power), Diseño urbano y espacios humanos (Urban design and human spaces) and La invención del sujeto novohispano: discurso e imaginario colectivo (The invention of the Novohispanic subject: discourse and collective imagination). Her editor, Dr. Robin Ann Rice, is a full-time professor and researcher at the Autonomous University of the State of Puebla in Mexico.

 

The editor, Robin Ann Rice, is a full-time professor and researcher at the Autonomous Popular University of the State of Puebla (UPAEP). Member of the National System of Researchers (SNI), she has a PhD in Hispanic Philology from the University of Navarra. His previous studies are in the field of Comparative Literature. She is the author of books and articles on Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Isabel de la Encarnación, Vélez de Guevara, Lope de Vega, María de Zayas, Mariana de Carvajal or Miguel de Cervantes, among others.
