Founded by Stefano Arata, the “Casa di Lope” (or “House of Lope”, in Spanish) should be a real meeting place between scholars and students interested in the Spanish Golden Theater; its headquarters was what was then called Dipartimento di Studi Romanzi of the University “La Sapienza”, where Stefano taught. Upon his death, in 2001, some friends and colleagues decided to continue the company. For a few (few) years, meetings and seminars continued to be organized at the Roma Tre University (where Fausta Antonucci teaches, who was responsible for coordinating the initiatives). But as of 2001 the “Casa di Lope” assumed the character of a virtual meeting place, with a web page that now offers itself renewed to its users, whose most important sections provide updated information on critical bibliography, links of interest, congress and seminars.
