Peruvian
Viceroyalty Philosophy

Director: Jean Christian Egoavil

The main purpose of the project “Peruvian Viceroyalty Philosophy” (Filosofía virreinal peruana) is to study and disseminate the philosophical heritage produced in Peru during the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. To this end, it will have the following axes:

(1) Bibliographical focus: the aim is to reconstruct the bibliographical corpus of viceregal philosophical thought, using the tools of the digital humanities.

(2) Theoretical focus: a new historiographical model will be formulated in order to offer an alternative reading of viceregal philosophy as an original product within the tradition of Western culture.

(3) Philological focus:translations and critical editions of the main philosophical works written in the Peruvian viceroyalty will be organised using the digital humanities.

Researchers: Daphne Cornejo Retamozo, Ivonne Macazana Galdos and Enrique N. Urteaga Araujo
