V.S. declara y manda que en los cacicazgos de pachacas y ayllos no ha de auer sucesión, ni los hijos y hermanos y deudos de los que lo usan los han de heredar

Authors: Luis de Velasco y Castilla

This document shows us a bit of the viceregal administration and the legal norms that frame the succession rights of the chiefs. Although in 1603, the date this order was printed, Luis de Velasco y Castilla ruled; Viceroy Francisco de Toledo is mentioned, who established a large part of the economic administration of the viceroyalty of Peru.

The order recognizes that the dissemination of this document was imperative and therefore it is requested that Antonio Ricardo, the Italian who established the first printing press in South America, reproduce it. In the document, in a handwritten way, information is added on the use of town criers for the dissemination and knowledge of these norms in the population.
