The 1630 edition of the Obras del Venerable i Mistico Dotor F. Joan de la Cruz (Works of the venerable and mystic Doctor Fray Juan de la Cruz) is extremely important for San Juanist studies where it is established for the first time the title Cántico espiritual, entre el alma i Cristo, su Esposo (Spiritual Song, between the Soul and Christ, his Spouse). Moreover, it was the main source of many later editions until the eighteenth century, as well as various translations of the seventeenth century. The volume is illustrated by the famous engravings of Diego de Astor
