Gramatica y arte nveva dela lengva general de todo el Peru, llamada lengua Qquichua, o lengua del Inca was published in Lima, Peru, in 1607. This volume is one of the first records of a language that did not have a written system before the Spanish conquest. It is a grammar of Quechua, the predominant language of the Incas, as it was spoken at the time the Spanish arrived in Peru. The author of the compilation is the Jesuit Diego González Holguín.
The Extremaduran Jesuit, Diego González Holguín, is a key figure for the historical study of Quechua, especially its Cuzco variety, of which he also developed a Vocabulario.
