Emblemata centum regio politica
This is perhaps the most important book for the political study of the Spanish emblem: the Emblemata centum regio politica by Juan de Solórzano Pereira are a clear example of how mythography, that is, the interpretation of the Greco-Latin myths, served as the underlying discourse for the formulation of government theories, and, for the legitimation of the imperial order. Nevertheless its close connection with the Court, the emblems of Solórzano and Pereira are very probably the most widely repertory used by American scholars when establishing symbolic correspondences.
